The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 后劲无穷 emo了很久很久 但我从影评中了解到波兰正在发生着什么的时候 再次对这部电影肃然起敬，我愿意称之为英雄
『人不能对什么都感到恐惧，尤其是为了自由』。爱情觉醒的甜蜜和铁幕阴影下的巨大恐怖，两者强烈的对比更让人觉得意难平，在观感上弥补了一些故事悬疑情节方面的零碎和寡淡。

摄影不错。父子模式 反转之类。很喜欢主角的那张合理的愤世嫉俗的脸
你说，人不能什么都怕，尤其是自由，所以我大胆的和黑暗对抗，摆脱束缚，做了一回真正的自己。流弹四射，我送你逃走，无论我能不能追上你，我的心，早已和你一起，获得了自由！
视听语言和cp感都很赞，几处玻璃折射的运用尤其不错；但案件、背景、男主的觉醒与男主男二的爱情，短短不到两个小时，根本不够展开，再加上未婚妻的设定，显得男主爱上男二挺突兀的。结尾说当年的很多档案到现在都还没能解密，想到网上经常吐槽都xxxx年了，日光之下总无新事。
我以为我看到的是Love，其实是History，以为是History，其实是Politics，以为是Politics，其实是Freedom，以为是Freedom，其实是Truth
剧情展开转折都还不错，但是跟踪那块有点扯（也太不专业了）…另外还纠结是掰弯还是深柜…男主怎么跟桑总这么像，还都叫Thomas…
学到一个新词，新黑色电影。 前面一直不错，结尾的时候有点拖垮。
“波兰人不喜欢其他波兰人快乐”。充满歧视和举报的那个国家也一样，对～说的就是美国！
虽然故事讲的有点乱，但意外是即使除去同性的部分，依旧是部能看得下去的完整电影，而且质感有加分。
总的来说，勉强能够及格，但片子还可以更好。
故事很完整，能感觉到认真叙述故事！剧情老套偏纪实，警察爹演的很好！警察有点老，cp弱！警察与大学生爱上的莫名其妙，感觉就是利用或泄y吧！冲完整剧情打星吧！2021年的电影画面感觉很久！就是一个真二八经的剧情电影，不要磕cp！
政治迫害的题材很容易牵动情绪，但也很容易拍不好。这部片子就是处处都想说，但又处处都没有到位的感觉……
阴冷色调，暖色柔情，上次看类似的铁幕电影还是《残影余像》。剿杀风信子。。。看科普还是近几年反潮的趋势。
②楚楚可怜的可爱小卷毛主动勾引！！！男主被一个吻就掰弯后，还不相信哈哈哈，跟女主的亲吻像是证明，下位时很冷漠笑死了，立马让我想起来一个动图，俩男床戏挺好看的dddd！
