The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. #3rd HIFF# 展映-万象中国。前3rd平遥WIP+4th平遥观众奖。7分还是4星鼓励一下。老夫妇俩还挺不错的，导演的长镜头设计是很下了一番功夫，室内调度很有些罗马尼亚电影的味道（[雪山之家]这种小空间长对话脉络上的），高中教室那个场景估计是导演得意之作了。片尾那个费里尼+塔尔科夫斯基式的梦境其实有点蛇足。好奇的是，这个片子明明是个东愁式的工厂退休职工的指向，底却是个颓败乡村。以及，实话说女主角如果能cast到赵涛老师就完美了。

索尼不如把毒液按这个方向拍。搞不好能火一把呢？

镜头很分离。结尾太玄幻。山西佳作。女主瘦版刘威葳。
虚渊玄这是念了金刚经？一切有为法，如梦幻泡影；如露，亦如电，应作如是观。立意其实很高，但奈何放在整个作品里面就挺割裂的。
虚渊玄属实拖后腿，剧情并不复杂，呈现的效果却不好。

关于疾病假设性的表演，这部片子似乎是个反面的例子吧，脑补式的阿兹海默行为学和浮空的记忆。
导演估计是个影迷，能看出从不少名片名导那借鉴了很多，还是个长镜头爱好者，利用长镜头又强化了表演，再加上几个幻想的段落，很有灵气了
