The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 好简单个故事，连场景都只有那么一个。而且没有大波折，这种遭遇、绑架、监禁的戏居然一点紧张感都没有，有点无趣。
狐狸成精盗天书，猥琐和尚俏仙姑，民脂民膏聚宝盆，权色暴毙抓交替，飞虎吃人逗皇帝；一次失败的BBC中外合作让众艺术家放开了手脚玩，个中隐喻讽刺远高于当下动画
镜头语言不错，三个人在橘子园中漫步，劫匪和妻子走的更近，而科技富豪丈夫则一个人走在了后边，这让人对剧情后边的走向充满了好奇？那熬人的一夜劫匪和年轻的妻子会发生点什么？
《天书奇谭》最让我感动的是影片最后一段的纪录片，不由得感叹老一辈艺术家们的用心，他们在追求艺术的道路上一丝不苟，每一个部门都有着相同的目标，这不单是物质的快乐，更是精神的升华。

既有故事性又有娱乐性，各个人物都立得很饱满，毫无疑问给五星。从天书象征的privilege 到贪婪的官差、向往公正的民，再到皇的高高在上，每一场戏都很值得推敲，结合出品年代来看，立意实在大胆又先锋。最后要夸一夸修复团队，看完幕后才知道很多音轨是完全重制的，太用心了！！😭

央6重温经典，多年再看，还看出来点讽刺意味。
Lily很美 剧情没什么新意 但结局挺意外的
再次证明，沙雕死于话多。还有，鞋带很重要。
小时候听说过没看过，现在补看依然是国产动画片的巅峰之作。三只狐狸精真的特别有意思。
小时候看过，画得很精致，记得仙法要用于人间，为人类谋幸福，还要当心被坏人利用。
这才是传说中的中国风吧；不是给小孩看的吗，干嘛弄那么惨的结局；配音很棒，完全不用字幕添累赘；这里面的玉帝是大吃货，皇帝是小皮孩，蛋生是个喜欢从中间开始吃烙饼的小朋友。
10分，剧本实在太好了，小时候超爱看，现在也依然如此。
