The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 老人、孩子与鸡。一场乘着夕阳之光而行进的公路电影。东木年事已高，在他的创作中已十分明显，有着一种不愿面对纷杂纠葛的慈悲与和蔼。
非常温和的温情电影、看了很平静、老爷子老当益壮

雄鸡是硬汉，东木老爷子也是，从《黄金三镖客》到《廊桥遗梦》，从《不可饶恕》到《老爷车》，再到这一部，老爷子霸气，好电影便是如此，讲好一个故事，演好一个角色，老爷子做到了。
温情有余，就是没什么劲，毕竟这是个现代片，可能更像他本人的侧写了。结尾还是要来一下，小男孩说他会去，也是考虑到要给老头一个好的归宿。不然的话怎么办？美国的关口肯定是被爸爸堵住的，所以留在墨西哥逃亡吗？这点strong和grit才是男孩应拥有的，所以macho送给了老头，是从前那个男人的纪念。
真的就像老人讲故事
故事比较平淡，缓慢，老爷子90多还挺硬朗，女人见了都为之着迷，他也只想搂着女人跳跳舞。
近些年伊斯特伍德的片子都在表达他内心的宁静。
二十分钟后我在电影院睡着，一个小时后思考再三中途退场。是的我可以看路边野餐和大象津津有味却觉得这部干瘪无聊浪费生命，每一句台词说出来都让人想嘘，男主似乎已经动弹不得难当此任并且把电影节奏拖累得和他的脚步一样缓慢而衰颓。
电影本身很淡很简单。能够看到老爷子还在拍电影就好温暖，
又一个暮年英雄的角色，一趟明知结局的旅程，和以往的作品相比要平庸一些。但91岁还在努力创作的人，除了东木老爷子应该没有第二位了吧。
东木老大爷真是劳模啊！强扭的西部片没有灵魂。
治愈啊！典型的东木大爷西部公路片，在路途中完成自我的找寻和定义！
该是老爷子的最后一部电影了吧，且看且珍惜。
演技只有老爷子能看…感觉就是部面向拉美或德州这边的中老年的家庭剧。但看到边上七八十的老夫妻携手观看、听着西班牙语哈哈大笑的场景时，突然觉得也是需要有这种影片的存在的。一时之间竟有些感动…
东木老先生还真是讲立场的人。片子不重要，立场才关键！

90多了这股子精气神真的值得赞赏，但是吧…就…真的吹不动，尤其再横向对比一下老爷车和骡子…甚至注意力经常被颤颤巍巍的老爷子带走，真的担心他站不稳再摔一跤……
