The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 太失望了。两星半吧…给个面子三星。故事老套，配乐脱线，看的人关心不起来剧中人的生死…咱不是超英片，警察一边探案一边漫威式打屁说笑话真的太不合时宜了。这片甚至不能算恐怖片，我要想看把人打出骨头的超英片可以直接看守望者啊。
将死前删掉与你的回忆唯独留下与你第一次夜桜散步中“要好好活下去啊”的片段，闭上眼走马灯是想象中原本的未来。最后忽然飞起的樱花是不是茉莉的思念呢。「ちゃんと生きてね。」「わかった。」
给小坂流加，你比常人稍短的生命里的杰作为未来时空不曾相逢的人带来泪水。感谢制作组。
如果说温子仁为了迎和当下观众的「恐怖审美」而自甘堕落到这样的水准简直是自毁招牌，而且这个故事的内核——一个男性怪物隐藏在女性身体内肆意作恶，最后需要女性的「自我觉醒」来除恶也太媚俗，而从故事到近于白痴的表演都是简单而幼稚的。

昨晚看完，今早起来女儿在沙发上玩磕到了后脑勺，双手抓后脑，哭叫着要撒娇一下，我以为她要给我从后脑撕出个Gabriel来。

不敢相信这次是温子仁导演，整部电影质感如同低成本的老式恐怖片，仅后半小时的观感尚可。创意很好，可控制电磁场的超能力是哪来的？节奏和内核与招魂系列很相似，先是情节反转，最后点题落到亲情上。

人生好长，长到只能和你短短相遇。
可以算科幻片了：女主和操控她谋杀别人的肿瘤生命体加百利做斗争的故事。看的完整版，运镜和调度的水平依然在，但不吓人。

其实人生啊，那些“值得放入回忆清单”的部分加起来，能足十年，已算圆满。一个没有悬念的简单故事，但是一个足够美丽的幻境。小松菜奈＋坂口健太郎＋樱花散落，足够啦。
「我有梦想了。因为你我想活下去。我想守护你。」是很打动人的吗？我暂时完全没有概念。仅用理智的话，不。
希望大家都能够珍惜眼前人～双向奔赴
磕颜的片子，感觉她和ken更有CP感🛣很老套，但喜欢此片的胶片色调。

想起了好多【人就松了】的时刻啊，冬天，再看一遍。多的一星给摄影老师，让人看着就想哭的摄影。
在老派鬼屋片和动作大片的十余年打磨下，温子仁已经不可逆地成为了一位“优质恐怖片导演”，尽管作出了勇敢的尝试，但要指望由他来反叛，似乎已经不太现实了。
