The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 以这种小格局的悬疑片来说，本身在有限时间内调度节奏就很有难度，这片还要把大段的时间往主角救赎这个主题上凑（甚至临近结尾你才明白导演的意图），导致主线剧情完全沦为次辅、剧情输出匮乏、张力完全不够，玩深度咱换个类型片玩不行吗。
感觉演的蛮好的，但实在难以共情。这种心理状态真的无法胜任报警接线员的工作啊！他需要去休假！！情绪波动最大时候是得知Emily是精神病的时候……
6.2分，主要还是依靠于吉伦哈尔的演技。剧作以及视听呈现方式在原作时就已经惊艳过了，难免疲劳。
看着演员表里的一堆熟面孔，谁能想到就听了个声儿呢。奈飞还是放过电影拍电视剧吧，现在甚至不敢想象隔壁卡司吓死人的某片会拍成什么样。

不如原版啊，没能做出有效的改编设置。奇怪的是节奏也从中间开始往下掉，无法做到吸引观众，这种类型片就废了。这种改编也实在意义不大。杰克倒是兢兢业业但也被忽视太久。

这么高质量的独角戏竟然七分以下？老吉张弛有度的演技完美演绎了这个刚愎自用的“罪人”警察，拉到极致的气氛渲染和妙到毫巅的镜头语言更让人物的内心得到完美呈现，可以早早被猜到的结局完全不影响整体的观感，剧情和情感的推进型都做得十分完善。
老吉的演技真的好好哦，表情情绪刻画的一流，比原版视觉体验会更丰富，内容上多了一层时代的背景，山火，以及个人情感纠葛。对原版的个人同意真相的情节也做了先后顺序的调整，使剧情以及人物情感铺垫更为合理了！
男主角这种偏执狂，扔到人群里，就是一颗随时要炸的手榴弹。他还是一个警察，那就是颗导弹了。剧情实在给男主开了太多光环了，一个神经病会听他歇斯底里的语无伦次？通讯中心就任由他上蹿下跳？其实老美是很在意对方情绪管理的。如果没有剧情加持，可以想象这样性格的人会在自以为救人的情况下伤害多少人。实在无法共情男主。吉伦哈尔演戏时候的度如果再不收一收，就快成为马景涛了。
Underrated. 非常精彩的独角戏。
和汤姆哈迪的一个电影洛克差不多，全程就是以对话的形式展现的影片，电话情节比较平淡不如洛克抓人，一个警察通过一通报警电话良心发现的故事，网飞现在真是什么题材都要尝试一下，不管怎么说杰克吉伦哈尔的表演还是很卖力气的。
为杰哈的表演给四星，马上去看原版。我真的太喜欢这个主题了。
杰克的演技有点用力过猛？原电影早就看过了所以剧情没悬念。
3.5 很久没看到过这类型的电影了，还以为好莱坞不再做类似的东西了。吉伦哈尔的演技无可挑剔，但故事的反转还是有些俗套，最后一幕剧情节奏编排不太好
即便是翻拍这个分数也真的太低了，是福奎阿的镜头不好还是吉伦哈尔的表演不强？！这种怼脸的大特写对导演和演员的要求都太高了，而且人物的心理轨迹要比原版还要清晰完整，这么局促的空间内节奏好得不得了，每一个气口都位置都对，且该短短该长长的（除了结尾厕所戏结尾长的有点狗尾续貂），豆瓣这评分是不是有点装大了？！
