The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 作为庭审片，主要矛盾冲突不是来自检方和辩方，而且法官和辩方自身内部的冲突。开篇用了简练的手法，快速过镜每个人都是和平手段而去，以及闪过的新闻，都在表明导演给出的答案，而黑人的用处，无非是表现法官的歧视与不公，除了一次探监外，几乎没人任何法院以外的镜头。即使给出了是以政治目的审判，但并没有表现出检方任何压迫和针锋相对，而是法官的不公，一个不公正的判决，无异于污染了水源，大概导演想表达的，也就是法官是当下的美国。但是相反的，对辩方的反应以及两次闪回的镜头，却让我并没有感觉出他们没有一点的无罪。七君子，不过是两三个人的戏。

如果说在这个背离真实的年代，有何可称之为良心的话，我想那只能是过去的发生过的良心——也即这部电影里重述的故事。

这是典型的好莱坞年度左翼电影。这几年几乎每年都有这样一部左翼政治理念的电影，例如聚焦、华盛顿邮报。拍摄手法都是纪实冷峻、都是大牌云集，明显不为了票房就冲着各类奖项的政治宣言，像是一个每年必做的功课。

极度热血而理想主义，但是最震撼的却也是这理想主义，因为你知道这些都是历史上确确实实发生过的。天下的政权们——过往或今朝——大抵是相似的。

不得不说，艾伦索金的剧本功力太了得了，美国人拍这种题材也是出神入化。 整个电影张力十足，最后的结案陈词差点看哭。为什么一直用理想对抗不公，为什么一直没有放弃，因为全世界再看！
