The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 7.1/10 前半段轻佻冒进的劲真好，但欲扬先抑的结构远不如均衡对仗的写法，本以为与前文呼应的第二段争执最终会落脚在洪式讽刺，可导演还真就是算准了要以上扬的les情谊来收尾（但幽闭恐惧的女主走进电梯或许也可以视作一个多义性的切入点
画面和美感给三星。故事情节，烦透了。法国人把所谓的自由和浪漫都用烂了。“暧昧”也被贩卖过了头。看多了，实在让人生厌，各种矫情，各种说教。但还要装轻松，装作云淡风轻，自由自在。实质上也全是说教。
充满激情的阿娜伊斯，爱上了从老夫到老妻，最后和女作家电梯甜蜜一吻，战胜了幽闭恐惧症。
爱情观对位了，评分显得就不是那么客观了。又是一部典型estj人格女主带全场的情节剧，很爽，很有玩味的感觉。最后艾米丽对她说：你对我不是爱情，就是你产生的幻象。直接打在我心上，阿娜做的动作也足够优秀：so，又怎么样呢，我还是要拉你去开房哈哈哈
明艳的色彩，跳动的情绪，洋溢着蔷薇的清香，燃烧着猛烈的渴望。阿娜伊斯是如此自由而勇敢，跳脱出传统的情爱理论，不惧怕真挚而直接的表达。或许有一种心动就是，你借我的书我会一直翻看，不想还回去。
轻松、享乐主义的女性肖像，不上价值、不故作姿态，也不强求提取共性，比《世界上最糟糕的人》好不少。看《世界上最糟糕的人》时我就一直觉得主角长相和气质都很像德穆斯捷，没想到这次她还真演了个几乎完全一样的角色……
好戏从60分钟开始。
阿娜伊斯 一个永远跑在路上的女孩 她的自由和勇敢让我惊讶 就像Emilie所说的 “你活在所有渴望之上”
所谓自由勇敢，不过是荷尔蒙上头本能的横冲直撞。毫无克制的，这是爱吗？“我不同意”。
结局对比《圣母》，竟然有点洪常秀的意思了xs
热烈地奔跑，绝不对生活妥协。用年轻去打动陈旧，用激情去打造内心，用行动去打破幽闭。Anais是每个人初生的样子，不是爱情是illusion，一辈子的勇敢才是。(法式小裙子和衬衫可真美呀）
