The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 拍法老派，但并不只是预想中的亲情励志，残奥金牌很快就拿到了，重点是之后怎么办，残障运动员即便再努力，也还是会被大众忽视受到不公平对待甚至生存窘迫，我也只能惭愧表示看了电影才知道苏桦伟是谁。普通运动员拼命是为了梦想和名利，残障运动员为的可能只是让自己不再被瞧不起，而这努力最终也还是会落空，想想还真是心酸。这部电影的遇冷，也是这一问题的表现。
赶场晚到了20多分钟。影院的椅子很舒服，洞里的探险和声音设计容易沉浸其中，1个小时很快就过去了。没看够，进片尾字幕时，一点都不想走。我对旁边喜欢的男生说:「太舒服了，咱俩今晚就睡这吧。」靠在他肩膀上，赖在电影院很久。

北影节第七部，大银幕上声阱带来的声音体验真是拉满了。完全是我的菜，画面和声音体验总能每过几分钟带给我愉悦。故事本身倒是没什么新意，一个简单的对位法，或许当我们将现代化的事物带到这亘古未曾改变的遥远世界时，消亡就已经发生了。
风景很美，但是导演到底想要表达什么呢：是人与自然的存在关系，抑或是对洞穴考察的行为记录？我没有看懂。
语言被简化为最根本的呼声 在没有观念之前 每个镜头里都有神迹
吴君如太牛了，最佩服这种喜剧演员，演起正剧也毫不含糊，岁月神偷和这部，都好棒。
Atmospheric。这个月在撒丁岛也去了这样一个喀斯特洞穴参观，当然铺好了防滑栈道打好了灯光。有一个洞穴上有1962的黑字，导览说是第一个进入这个深洞的地质队伍留下的笔记。这部电影有科普的一面，队员留下随身小包，挤过黑暗洞穴的狭窄处，自然从来就不是以人的尺度存在，它的存在也不是为了人去赞美去游玩。
题材本身还是挺值得鼓励。片子做得过于用力了，音乐和节奏都是。没错这样的片子是有被打动的预期的，但是一直催着说你要感动你要感动就会有点奇怪和pushy。打算把12秒58拿出来也看看
作为一个电影作品来说真的问题挺多的，作为一个传记来说也是有很多问题的。但是这个题材内容是值得关注的。演员表现特别好。
旧世界灵光的消逝。凡人的一切语言、表情和心理活动都让位于动作，即与洞真正产生互动的部位。只是剪辑过于平淡，一成不变的节奏不是一般地难熬。
波兰New Horizons 2022。 4，在读博前夕看到这个很有感触，往下探索，因为洞就在那里。
原生态的偏远山区，垂垂老矣的牧民。云海、山谷、岩层、草场，全景拍得很美，节奏舒缓，让人不自觉屏住呼吸（从而缺氧睡去）。
毫无意义的探险行为，只充斥着摄影美学完全远离现实的轻松体验。是值得纪念呀，如果世界上所有人都去做无意义的事情就好了。
