The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 和恐怖片实则无甚关联，更像是一部暗黑童话，文艺片的内核，用一种猎奇的形式探究着亘古不变的哲学问题，我是谁，我从何而来，将去向何处。
作为一部2021年的电影，看了开头就知道结尾了……
私人的亲情和爱情与案件的终点真相，审问者与被审问者，情理交融。太精彩了！在特殊历史时期，压抑的政治高墙内喘息，直到最后更为动人。
